The Green Deal Cardiff
Home Insulation Assessment in Cardiff, Bridgend, Caerphilly and throughout South Wales.
Home Insulation Assessment
Basically, this is an EPC, but with an assessment/ survey of the property's existing insulation.
A Domestic Energy Assessor has to carryout a non-intrusive survey to produce an EPC. They are not allowed to drill a wall to check for cavity wall insulation, or rummage around a loft (in fact many don't even look in the loft), or crawl into the loft voids around rooms in the roof.
With your permission, in the case of cavity walls, we would drill a 12mm hole in the wall(s) and insert a boroscope with a camera to assess suitability for insulation. A full survey of the loft space would be carried out, together with a survey of any rooms in the roof.
We produce a report of our findings together with various solutions, and details of any funding that may be available.
The cost for this is additional insulation assessment is just £25 on top of the EPC fee.
HOW MUCH DOES AN EPC COST?
We carry out Energy Performance Assessments throughout the CF and NP postcodes.
The Energy Performance Assessment is carried out on the property by a fully qualified Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA).
Our fees are based on the type of property, and it's locality.
The following prices are based on the area Cardiff to Newport to Newbridge to Ponypridd to Cardiff
Terraced Houses £49, End of Terrace house, semi-detached house and semi-detached bungalow £54, Detached houses and detached Bungalows £59.
These prices are inclusive of V.A.T.
We lodge the EPC on the EPC Register, and send you a PDF of the EPC together with the Home Insulation Assessment report.
WHAT IS AN EPC?
EPC is short for Energy Performance Certificate. An EPC is a 4 page document produced after an Energy Performance Assessment has been carried out on a property, by a fully qualified Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA).
We only carry out Energy Performance Assessments on domestic properties.
The EPC will show the Energy Performance rating of the property. The rating will be between 1 and 100. 1 is the least energy efficient and 100 is the most energy efficient (some of the houses now being build are ultra energy efficient and score 100+).
The EPC will be lodged on the EPC Register, which is a searchable public register that can be found here.
The EPC will also show details about each element of the property such as Walls, Loft, Heating System, Windows etc..
It will also list any recommended improvements to the property that would increase the property's energy efficiency.
WHAT IS INVOLVED IN DOING AN EPC?
An Energy Performance Assessment will take on average about 40 minutes - this is the data collection part of producing an EPC.
During the Energy Performance Assessment the Domestic Energy Assessor will collect the following data
The collected data is then inputted into Government approved software to produce the EPC.
