The Solar & Battery Funding Initiative

Who qualifies for the solar panels?

It is available to both Owners and Tenants (with the landlord’s consent)

Households must meet ONE of the following three criteria:

1. Household Income: Total household income (before stoppages) must be less than £37,000 per year – evidence will be required.

or

2. Age: A resident over 70 years old, or if there’s a child in the household receiving Free School Meals (usually aged 4 to 11).

or

3. Medical Vulnerability: A resident who suffers from a health condition negatively affected by the cold. Namely,

Cancer / Terminal Illness, Cardiovascular Conditions, Respiratory Conditions, Disability (specifically affecting mobility), Mental Health Conditions and Immunosuppression.

(This will have to be confirmed by a doctor.)

The grant is fixed at £4,500. However, the cost of the installation of the solar panels and battery is £7,500, which means that you/landlord would have to make a contribution of £3,000 (this may be more for larger properties).

You should recover your contribution in 4 years from the saved electricity bills.
