Do you qualify for an ECO4 grant?
There are 3 routes to qualify for an ECO4 grant.
Route 1. Benefits-based.
These are the qualifying benefits
- Pension Credit
- Income-Based Job Seekers’ Allowance
- Universal Credit – No income threshold
- Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance
- Tax Credits (including Working and Child Tax Credits) – No income threshold
- Income Support
- Housing Benefit – NEW
- Child Benefit/Family Allowance. Income Thresholds apply – see table below.

Route 2. Income Based (LA Flex)
Your gross annual household income must be less than £31,000.
So, that is the total gross income of everyone living at the address before any stoppages.

Route 3. Health Conditions Based (LA Flex)
You can qualify if you suffer from one of these 4 conditions – subject to your doctor’s confirmation.
Immunosuppression
a cardiovascular condition,
a respiratory disease
limited mobility
I qualify for an ECO4 grant, but will my property qualify?
This will depend on a number of factors.
- The size of the property – the bigger the property, the bigger the grant
- The EPC rating – the lower the EPC rating, the higher the grant
- The measures to be installed and the energy efficiency improvement to be made, versus the cost.
Ultimately, a Retrofit Assessment and an EPR (an unregistered EPC) will be carried out on your property, and this will decide what can or can’t be done.
